Florentino Perez still plans to buy Mbappe and Haaland
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez still plans to buy superstars Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, according to El Chiringuito.
The Spanish sports show reports that Perez informed Real Madrid socios during a club meeting that he has not closed the door on the world class attackers.
Indeed, it is very much still in Florentino’s plans to sign Mbappe and Haaland in the coming seasons.
Both attackers were key targets for Madrid this past summer, particularly Mbappe.
Erling Haaland at Man City: Goals, assists, results & fixtures in 2022-23
Mbappe had seemed destined to join Real Madrid this summer but completed a dramatic turnaround by penning a three-year extension with PSG at the end of May.
Throughout 2021-22, it had been unanimously accepted that he would sign for Madrid on a Bosman transfer when his previous PSG contract expired.
Having rejected a €200 million bid from Real Madrid for Mbappe last summer, the Frenchman was believed to have already agreed a free transfer move to the club he supported as a child.
This was reinforced by the fact that he rejected numerous offers of a PSG extension throughout the campaign.
But, in a shock twist, Mbappe decided to sign a new deal at PSG.
Haaland and Mbappe to leave in 2024?
As for Haaland, Madrid backed away from negotiations when they thought that Mbappe was in the bag.
This allowed Man City to complete a €60m move for the Norway international from Borussia Dortmund and he has already scored 14 goals in 10 games for the club this season.
Nevertheless, it is widely reported that Mbappe’s new contract at PSG only really runs until 2024. As for Haaland, it is believed he has a release clause that comes into effect in 2024, too.
This suggest that both players do not see their long-term futures at their current clubs.
