Leicester City star Youri Tielemans insists that he does not regret missing out on a move during the summer transfer window.

Tielemans was the subject of fevered speculation throughout the window as Leicester saw several of their stars pursued by Premier League heavyweights.

While the Foxes did allow Wesley Fofana to leave for Chelsea it was a different story for the Belgian, who remained at the club despite strong interest from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Leicester have gone on to make a dreadful start to the new season.

After seven games Brendan Rodgers' side lies rock-bottom of the Premier League standings, having picked up just a single point so far while losing all of their last six outings.

Tielemans is undaunted by the bleak outlook at the King Power Stadium, though, and backed his decision to stay at the club.

"I'm not going to speak too much about my contract situation at the moment. I didn't leave Leicester in the summer as I always said the project had to be the right one," the midfielder stated.

“Just because things are getting worse now at Leicester doesn't mean I should regret [staying]."

The Belgium man did admit that this week's international break came at the perfect time to ease tensions around his under-performing club.

"I'm happy to get a bit of fresh air here [with Belgium] because it's tough at Leicester right now," he revealed.

"It's clear that things are not going well at the club. We are doing everything we can as a team.

"At Leicester, the consecutive defeats have affected us as a group. We need to benefit from this break to recharge our batteries.

"It's hard to get it off my mind as it keeps running through my head. Only my kids sometimes prevent me from thinking about it."
