Chelsea target Kane in 'marquee' transfer raid on Tottenham

Chelsea could launch a sensational raid on London rivals Tottenham by swooping for Harry Kane, with owner Todd Boehly desperate to make a ‘marquee’ signing next summer.
Kane is out of contract in 2024 and has yet to hold talks over a new deal, with Bayern Munich also believed to be keen on making a move for him.
The England international had asked to leave Tottenham for Manchester City last year but he remained at the club following the arrival of Antonio Conte and now appears to be settled.
City’s interest in Kane has since cooled after they signed Erling Haaland but CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea could now represent the domestic ‘threat’ for Tottenham.
“We know that there was interest from Manchester City a few seasons back,” Jacobs said on The Football Terrace’s YouTube channel.
“Chelsea are the more likely threat coming from the Premier League at the moment. They will look at Harry Kane for sure.
“Todd Boehly is very keen on showing Chelsea can bring in proven Premier League players, particularly attack-minded players.
“They want a marquee name from within the Premier League, they want to bring in someone to hit the ground running, look at Gabriel Jesus, how beneficial he has been to Arsenal.
“Jesus has just been able to transition instantly, Kane would be able to transition instantly.”

Chelsea and Tottenham have not conducted business with each other since 2009 due to a strained relationship between the sides, however that appears to have cooled since the arrival of Boehly.
The Blues have been desperate for a long-term solution to their striker problem and Boehly has not been afraid to splash the cash since purchasing Chelsea earlier this year.
Tottenham had demanded in excess of £120 million for Kane from City last summer and it is likely they would ask for a similar figure to even consider selling their star player to a bitter rival.

While Kane is believed to be intrigued by a move to Bayern Munich, the German side may not be able to afford his asking price, although Spurs may consider a cut-price deal to avoid selling to a Premier League side.
Kane may also prefer to remain in the Premier League, with the prospect of becoming the league’s all-time scorer still a realistic target, but the 29-year-old is believed to be satisfied with the progress made under Conte and could end up signing a new contract to stay at Tottenham.
