David de Gea has spoken about his future at Manchester United after his side’s most recent win against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.

De Gea’s future has been in doubt as it’s believed Erik ten Hag would like a goalkeeper who’s more proactive for his side, and that has raised questions over the Spaniard’s future.

The goalkeeper has had a mixed start to the season, with errors against Brighton and Brentford costing his team points and calling for him to be dropped.

There were even links to players such as Kevin Trapp and Yann Sommer in the summer, but Manchester United stuck with De Gea and signed Martin Dubravka on loan to provide competition.

De Gea positive of Man Utd stay

De Gea spoke after the match against Everton and praised his side’s response following a Manchester derby defeat last weekend.

Speaking to BT Sport, he said: "We controlled the game until maybe the last 10 minutes. It was massive for our confidence, we have to look forward to the next games. It's an honour to be here, it's a privilege.

"It was great to be in goal today, with the team fighting for three points. I'm just very focused on the games helping the team as much as I can.

"Of course, I would like to be here for more years, so let's see what happens in the future. I'm really, really happy here," the goalkeeper concluded.

Manchester United have been linked to various goalkeepers for the upcoming season, including FC Porto’s Diogo Costa and Milan’s Mike Maignan.

A concrete approach is yet to be made for a goalkeeper, and Ten Hag is reportedly keen on having someone who is comfortable with a ball at his feet and is ready to command his box.

De Gea has been important to Manchester United since his arrival, but many feel his skills are outdated and no longer up to the mark for Ten Hag’s team.
