Yves Bissouma has not had the greatest start to life at Tottenham, having signed for them this summer but having rarely featured for them in a starting role.

The midfielder moved from Brighton to Antonio Conte’s Spurs side, who were thin on numbers in that area, but Conte has preferred others such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur over him.

Things could’ve been much different for Bissouma had he moved elsewhere, with others across England interested in taking the midfielder away from Brighton when he was still there.

According to reports in England, Bissouma was of interest to various clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United before he ended up picking Tottenham has his club.

Things could've been different for Bissouma

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been severely depleted in midfield with injuries and form affecting them in the middle of the park, and they have been targeting reinforcements to help their situation.

Their main target is Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, while there have also been links to Wolves’ Matheus Nunes and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in recent times.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have needed midfield reinforcements for a while and ended up signing Casemiro from Real Madrid in a big money move over the summer as they failed to land other targets.

They’re still eager to improve their midfield, and interest was heavy in Bissouma, before deciding to pursue other options in the transfer window as Erik ten Hag was building his team at Old Trafford.

At Tottenham, it’s believed that Bissouma has struggled to adapt to certain tactical concepts under Conte, hence the reason for him being benched for other options in midfield at the start of this season.

If things don’t change for him, another move could be on the cards in the near future as Bissouma looks to get his career back on track and play football more regularly in the future.
