Milan Skriniar is in the final season of his contract at Inter and clubs are eyeing a move for the player, with Manchester United now reportedly set to enter the race for the defender.

Skriniar was linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain over the summer transfer window but a transfer never materialized and he ended up staying at the Italian club.

The Slovakia international hasn’t yet agreed to new terms at the club, and Inter would consider selling him in the January transfer window to recoup some money rather than lose him on a free next summer.

With that, Manchester United are keeping tabs on the situation in the hope of securing the defender’s signature as early as the January transfer window.

Man Utd could offer players in exchange

According to Inter Live, Skriniar could be tempted by a move to Manchester United, and they’ve added that the Red Devils could make a “desperate attempt” in the hope of getting the defender in January.

Manchester United currently have four senior options at the back: Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, who they signed this summer from Ajax.

Martinez and Varane have started most league games for the club this season, with Maguire out of form and Lindelof seemingly not preferred by the manager Erik ten Hag.

As a result, they may look to bring in someone as experienced as Skriniar, and may even offer Donny van de Beek or Anthony Martial as part of a swap deal, although this would be met with rejection, according to the report.

Skriniar may be vary of the time he will get on the pitch should he make the move, with Ten Hag’s primary centre-back options already set out, and he may not play as regularly as he does with Inter.

The Slovakian has been great for Inter over the years and was part of the title-winning team of 2020-21, ending the Nerazzuri’s 11-year wait for the Scudetto and breaking Juventus’ hold on the title.
