‘Mind your own f***ing game’ – Man Utd stars in Derby bust-up
Manchester United players were involved in an angry shouting match in the dressing room following the derby thrashing by Man City, with Lisandro Martinez and Scott McTominay the two most vocal protagonists.
Man Utd were humiliated 6-3 by their local rivals at the Etihad last Sunday in a game which illustrated the huge gap between the two sides.
The Sun reports that there was a fiery debate in the Man Utd dressing room after the match over what had gone wrong, which soon “boiled over”.
What happened after Man Utd defeat?
“Ten Hag asked each player one-by-one to explain their mistakes to one another,” a Sun source revealed.
“Some players were blaming others for not covering, which led to full blown arguments.
“One player told another to ‘concentrate on your own f***ing game’.
“It all got smoothed over but tensions are high. Ten Hag actively encouraged it.
“He’s told them he wants to see that level of passion on the field, not after the game has been put to bed.”
And they also added: “Erik wants them to get angry. It was frank and heated and that’s what he wants to see.
“You’d be surprised if he didn’t encourage it. He wants them to have that fighting spirit.”
Martinez and McTominay are said to have been the most vocal players in the dressing room, although it’s not mentioned which players swore at whom.
Man Utd won their next game 3-2 against Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League on Thursday.
They face Everton in the Sunday evening game in the Premier League, hoping to get back into the top-four race.
