Revealed: Man Utd turned down two bids for transfer flop Van de Beek
Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has seen his game time affected this season due to injury, making his comeback in his side’s Europa League win over Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday.
The Dutchman was hopeful of a good season following a complicated two years under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer where he rarely played in the first team.
Erik ten Hag – his former manager at Ajax – came in and he was hopeful that he’d get more time on the pitch under him at Old Trafford.

However, that has been restricted due to fitness issues, but now that he’s back, Van de Beek wants to play more to prove that it was worth bringing him over to Manchester United.
Van de Beek bids turned down
It’s been reported that Van de Beek was the subject of transfer offers over the summer but Manchester United turned them down because the club had plans for him.
Last season, Van de Beek played the second half of the campaign on loan at Everton, but struggled to make much of an impact, leaving doubts over his Manchester United future.

Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has spoken about Van de Beek and that it would take a while for him to convince Yen Hag to keep him in his plans.
He said: “Donny van de Beek made his return against FC Sheriff earlier this week and now it will take time to convince Ten Hag that he should be part of his plans.
“In August, two clubs approached Manchester United for Donny but they turned all ideas down. Nothing is decided for the midfielder’s future yet.”

It’s unclear which two clubs saw approaches turned down by Manchester United, and it isn’t certain whether they were permanent moves or loan offers.
Manchester United also probably turned down those offers because of the lack of depth available in their squad, especially in the midfield areas.
