Why Chelsea have the advantage in Dumfries transfer
Denzel Dumfries is attracting interest from clubs across England and Europe recently after a series of fine displays over the last two seasons for Inter.
Dumfries is admired for his attacking instincts and has done well for Inter, but could be switching clubs in the near future as interest in him rises.
Inter aren’t in the best financial position and may have to sell some of their top stars, and Dumfries is a player they can make a big sum on if they do decide to let him go in the upcoming transfer windows.

Now, amid interest from Antonio Conte’s Tottenham, their London rivals Chelsea could have an advantage in this race to sign the Dutch wing-back.
Dumfries a target for English sides
According to reports, Tottenham wanted to move for Dumfries by offering Emerson Royal in the deal, as Conte is a huge admirer of the player.
However, according to Calciomercato, Chelsea are eager to get Dumfries and are willing to offer a straight swap involving midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who could return to his former club if a move is made for the wing-back.

It could be argued that Chelsea aren’t in desperate need to sign Dumfries given they are well-covered in that area, despite injury to Reece James, who will be back in 2023.
Tottenham could use a player of Dumfries’ quality – they are lacking in that area given Emerson’s poor form and Djed Spence rarely getting an opportunity in the first-team.

Spurs have been signing from Inter recently, having quickly agreed a deal to sign Ivan Perisic last summer following the expiry of his contract at the Italian club.
What’s clear is Inter will have to make money quickly and given their poor start to the season where they currently sit in seventh and could miss out on Champions League football, a financial boost may be needed soon.
