From Carragher to Souness: Football responds to Ronaldo's shocking interview
Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken about his Manchester United stint in a recent interview with Piers Morgan and it hasn’t gone down well.
The interview had some revelations which be received brightly, and although the club are yet to respond to it, there’s a feeling they won’t be easy with it.
Ronaldo spoke with displeasure about the club, the facilities and his relations with manager Erik ten Hag, which has raised further doubts about his future at the club.

Now, other figures in football have spoken about the situation and shared their thoughts on Ronaldo and his time at Manchester United.
Football speaks on Ronaldo
Giuseppe Marotta of Inter has spoken about the situation: “It is part of the great passion he has for his profession. Football has represented everything for him, it is difficult to live with a physical decline at 37 years of age.”
He also addressed rumours he left Juventus in 2018 because he didn't want to sign Ronaldo. “In a club it is normal that there are different visions but I was not totally against the Ronaldo operation, but that was not the element of divorce. My cycle was at the end.”

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher also addressed the situation, telling Sky Sports: “It just feels like he’s still craving the attention that he can’t get because he’s not actually on the pitch & the only way he’s going to do that is to cause trouble. He’s bang out of order. He wants to be sacked, that’s obvious.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview is an embarrassment. Bottom line: he isn’t handling his decline with any grace or dignity. He’s 37 and not as good as he once was. It happens to everyone eventually. But blaming others shows a considerable lack of self-awareness.

Graeme Souness, meanwhile, took Ronaldo’s side on TalkSPORT: “Yes, it certainly does. It certainly does. “I think with him, he has been told a story and the manager has not kept it. What’s happened after, this ‘so-called agreement’…he doesn’t bring him on against City and the manager says it’s ‘out of respect’. Three weeks later and he wants him to go on against Tottenham when the game’s won. What can Ronaldo do there?
“And then he makes him captain and that for me, looking at it from the outside, I think the player has a grievance and he’s entitled to air his grievance.”
