Liverpool join Chelsea and Man Utd in race for Declan Rice
Liverpool have entered the race to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as they look to fix up their midfield problems in the near future, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
Rice has been a star for West Ham and England in recent years and his rise has been admired by many clubs across England and Europe.
The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have been interested in him in the past, and Liverpool are the latest club to pay attention to him.

They will also be encouraged by the fact that he’s a direct Jordan Henderson successor – even West Ham boss David Moyes has advocated for it in the past.
Rice compared to Henderson
Liverpool are thin on options in midfield and have considered a host of players to improve their quality, including names like Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.
In the past, Moyes has spoken about how good Rice is, likening him to Henderson: “I think Declan is a similar age now to what Jordan was then. And I think Declan at the moment is in a really good position.

Jordan Henderson has been a great player and captain for Liverpool, having to take over from Steven Gerrard, and he has done a brilliant job. I think Declan has got a lot of the same traits,” Moyes said.
“And as a player, he’s quick, he’s good on the ball. There’s a lot of things he can still improve on. We want to improve his passing and his goalscoring.”

If Liverpool are to move for him, he won’t come cheap, as there have been fees as high as £100 million quoted for him, and it’s unclear if the Reds will be willing to pay that much when they have other targets planned.
Given that Henderson and James Milner and getting older, bringing in younger talent for the long run is a priority for the club.
