Manchester United are ‘ready to please’ manager Erik ten Hag with the signing of PSV attacker Cody Gakpo, having had an interest in him for a while.

Gakpo was a target for Manchester United in the summer transfer window but the club weren’t able to get him as they opted to sign Antony from Ajax instead.

However, interest in him has remained and the club are ready to push for him again in the winter transfer window as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Gakpo has been in excellent form over the course of this season, and Manchester United will attempt to bring him to Old Trafford, possibly as early as January.

Man Utd ready to sign Gakpo

According to Rudy Galetti, Manchester United’s directors are keen to make Ten Hag happy and want to make Gakpo one of their signings in January.

The Red Devils are looking to shift their focus to the January transfer market and are planting seeds for the winter window in the hope of landing Gakpo.

The club are looking to “strike another blow” in the hope of getting the PSV star – and this is something Ten Hag has requested as he hopes to strengthen his team.

Manchester United remain keen to finalise an agreement with PSV for the player and despite reports suggesting they may get him on a low price, that is not true and they will have to spend big.

Gakpo has scored 13 goals and provided 16 assists in 22 games across all competitions over the course of the season and that has tempted Manchester United to move for him.

Gakpo’s value will likely rise should he have a big role to play at the World Cup – Louis van Gaal is set to take him to Qatar for the tournament this summer and he may start him regularly.
