Man Utd set to rival Liverpool for midfield transfer target

Moises Caicedo has been a rising star in the Premier League in recent times, becoming one of the top-flight’s best young midfielders in his time at Brighton.

The Ecuadorian has risen in his role over the last year having been given a chance in the Brighton first team and he has taken the opportunity well.

Caicedo has been doing well for his country Ecuador at this World Cup as well, and that is only raising the interest in the player as clubs circle for his signature.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are well-known to have shown their interest in the player, but there is a new side that is set to join the race in the coming months.

Man Utd join Caicedo race

Manchester United are set to join the race as Erik ten Hag is a keen admirer of the player and the club’s bosses are really keen, according to Florian Plettenburg.

Caicedo has got positive reviews from his team-mates – they admire his talents and his character on and off the pitch, making him an ideal player for their side.

Liverpool having made him one of their top midfield targets, along with Jude Bellingham, and are willing to spend big to land him in the near future.

Real Madrid have also been noted to show their interest as they look for the successors to Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, with a move for him a real possibility.

Caicedo’s displays at the World Cup will only boost his profile and he could secure Ecuador’s progression to the second round, which would attract more suitors.

It’s believed that Brighton were chasing a big fee for their young star – they want around €80 million for the player – however, they want him to stay beyond 2023.

Where he ends up remains to be seen, but it’s clear that there will be plenty of interest in him in the coming transfer windows as clubs look to improve in midfield.
