‘Everyone here likes him’: Sporting hint at Ronaldo transfer after Man Utd controversy
Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that ‘everyone at the club likes Cristiano Ronaldo’ following the Manchester United star’s explosive interview.
Excerpts of Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan surfaced where he accused United of trying to force him out of the club and claimed he had no respect for manager Erik ten Hag.
Sporting were rumoured to have considered a move for Ronaldo when he asked to leave United during the summer and Amorim hinted a pursuit for the 37-year-old wasn’t his choice.
WHOOPS: How Man Utd could have grounds to terminate Ronaldo's contract without compensation
Amorim said to Portuguese outlet Ojogo: "I've been asked this question a thousand times. Ronaldo is a Manchester United player. Everyone at Sporting likes him, there's not much to say.
“He himself says he wants to do things in peace to follow his future, he will decide his future. I won't be here telling you how things are for me.
“In the summer it became obvious that things don't all pass me by. There's the club, there's the structure. He's a Manchester United player."

What does the future hold for Ronaldo?
Ronaldo’s contract at United is set to expire in June but the club may look to secure an exit for him after the World Cup after the controversial quotes surfaced.
Interest in Ronaldo was limited during the summer and there is unlikely to be any significant change unless the forward lowers his wage demands.
Chelsea are considered the favourites to sign him after initially trying for him in the summer but Ronaldo’s future will likely be up in the air until United have held talks with him.
United issued a statement saying that they will consider all the facts before making a decision, but reports have suggested that Ronaldo has played his last game for the club.
The club could potentially have grounds to terminate Ronaldo’s contract without compensation as they may have ‘just cause’ but that decision could involve a lengthy legal trial.
With United insisting that they do not want to distract from their season, they will likely seek an amicable departure should Sporting, Chelsea or any other club opt against making a move.
