The breakout World Cup star Klopp would love to sign at Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has had is eyes on one particular breakout star at the 2022 World Cup for months.
Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been one of the outstanding figures in Qatar, with his strong all-round displays having seen him thrust into the dream XI of many critics at the competition as the North African side have moved into the quarter-finals for the first time.
According to Corriere dello Sport, though, Klopp had already asked the board of the Anfield club to make a move for the 26-year-old weeks ago.

Where he might have enjoyed a free run at the midfielder when he made that request, the Netherlands-born player has been thrust into the public eye lately, with Tottenham and Inter among the other sides now competing to sign the player.
The prospect of Amrabat being on the move in 2023 is high. The Fiorentina star is out of contract in 2024, so this could be the last chance for the Viola to make a significant fee on the player they signed for €19.5 million in January 2020. Meanwhile, this could be the player’s sole opportunity to move to a European power.

Liverpool taking Amrabat interest forward
Liverpool’s interest in Amrabat is reportedly significantly advanced, meanwhile.
Klopp has met with the player’s representative, Foot Mercato reports, and has already scheduled another meeting following the World Cup.
His agent, Mohammed Sinouh has stated: “Of course, I get a lot of phone calls for Sofyan. The whole world has seen he's the best holding midfielder of the World Cup.
“Sofyan is top professional, he's focused on World Cup with Morocco.”
Meanwhile, brother Nordin Amrabat, who has experience of playing in the Premier League with Watford, said: “I think the top clubs in Europe who have been sleeping have now woken up. In January, Sofyan himself was already in talks with Tottenham Hotspur, but there was no agreement on the transfer fee with Fiorentina.”
With Liverpool now seriously interested, that transfer fee for Amrabat will only have been ramped up.
