Erling Haaland’s father has further fuelled reports that his son will quit Manchester City to join Real Madrid in 2024 or 2025.

Alf-Inge Haaland has admitted that Erling could decide to stay at Man City for up to three years before moving to another major league.

"Erling could stay at City for 15 years because he is very happy and we are talking about a huge club," Haaland Sr told France Football.

"But my impression is that he wants to demonstrate that he can win at any of the big leagues. He was in Germany for two-and-a-half years and he could do something like that in his future.

"Staying in the Premier League for three years and then going to Italy, Spain or France. There's nothing firm about it, but it's a possibility because Erling is capable of being a winner in any team."

Haaland completed a €60 million transfer to Man City from Borussia Dortmund this past summer.

The striker turned down Real Madrid in order to join the English champions.

But it is widely believed that Haaland only plans on staying at City for two or three seasons before moving onto another league.

Real Madrid favourites for Haaland

Real Madrid are considered the favourites to be his next club. The Spanish media believe that Madrid see Haaland as the successor to Karim Benzema, who turns 35 by the end of the year.

Haaland has a release clause in his Man City contract that comes into effect in the summer of 2024 that is worth €200 million.

According to The Athletic, that release clause is only valid for clubs outside of the Premier League.

It is also reported that the release clause will decrease each year after it is activated in 2024.

Haaland has enjoyed a sensational start to the 2022-23 season, breaking record after record and scoring 23 goals in his first 18 games for his new club.
