Sancho and Van de Beek gone, four more Man Utd players who could leave in January
Manchester United are in the midst of a dire sophomore campaign under Erik ten Hag.
Though spirits are somewhat high heading into January 2024 after Sir Jim Ratcliffe's minority investment in the club was announced, it remains to be seen whether his funds will influence their transfer business on the incoming front.
Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho have already left the club on loan, but they may not be the only departures this month.
FootballTransfers takes a look at who else might leave Old Trafford this winter…
Facundo Pellistri
PSV Eindhoven are keen on acquiring the services of Facundo Pellistri on loan. The Uruguayan has struggled to make an impression under Erik ten Hag, who is now open to letting the winger go during the January transfer window, in a bid to free up the wage bill.
He joined the Red Devils for £9 million in 2020 but has failed to secure a spot in the Man Utd lineup. Even with the challenges faced by other players in his position, such as Antony and Marcus Rashford, Pellistri has failed to make a significant impact this season.
LA Galaxy are also interested in the winger, and while PSV currently lead the race, they are not in advanced talks yet.
Hannibal Mejbri
Another player on the way out of Manchester is Hannibal Mejbri. The Tunisia international has been made available for loan and hasn't joined his country at the Africa Cup of Nations in order to complete his move.
Everton, Sevilla, Freiburg and Lyon are interested in the midfielder, but the Spanish side have all but completed a move for Mejbri. Fabrizio Romano has even given the transfer his famous 'here we go.'
The Tunisian will join Sevilla on loan with an option to buy for €20 million, while Man Utd have reportedly inserted a buy-back clause in the deal in case he does leave permanently.
Casemiro
Brazil international Casemiro is facing an uncertain future at Man Utd. Age appears to be catching up with the 31-year-old and Saudi Pro League interest in his services is ramping up.
Rumour has it that the midfielder is unhappy at Man Utd due to their struggles this season and has been seriously considering departing in 2024. The veteran has also been linked with PSG, although his injury problems this season may prevent a January move.
Raphael Varane
Raphael Varane is in the same boat as Casemiro. Interest in him has increased in light of United's struggles this season and speculation about his future was fuelled by him losing his place in Erik ten Hag's side in December due to his frequent fitness issues.
What's more, his contract actually expires in the summer of 2024 and not 2025 as initially reported. Though United have an option to extend his deal by a year, they could cash in on the 30-year-old who has suitors in Saudi Arabia and at Bayern Munich.
