Arsenal are in ‘advanced talks’ with Brighton over the transfer of Belgium international Leandro Trossard, according to Fabrizio Romano.

After missing out on their prime January target in the form of Mykhailo Mudryk, who instead made a dramatic €100 million switch to Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk, the Gunners have been pushed back into the transfer market to find an attacking option to bolster their Premier League title push.

Trossard appears to be that player, with the 28-year-old in a rich seam of form this season, having netted seven times for the Seagulls in 16 appearances.

According to Romano, personal terms have already been agreed with the player and it is now a case of finessing a deal with Brighton.

The player will be offered a long-term deal, with Arsenal preparing to close the deal "in the next hours".

Trossard is known to want to leave the south coast side, with FootballTransfers’ understanding of the situation that he has instructed his agent to find a buyer. Some Premier League sides have even grown frustrated with the nature of their links with the former Genk man.

Indeed, such is the desire of Trossard to depart Brighton, he was left out of the squad for the weekend’s shock 3-0 success over Liverpool, a match in which Solly March took centre stage.

That performance at the weekend, along with the player’s clear desire to have his shot at a big club, may just have been enough to persuade Brighton to sell one of their key players this season.

Talksport reports that Brighton are asking for £25 million for the player, and the Seagulls have shown in the past that they will not be bullied by buying clubs.

This was highlighted in the summer when they held out for £62m from Chelsea to sign Marc Cucurella, and is likely to be displayed again as Moises Caicedo becomes increasingly desired in the transfer market.

Arsenal, though, are thought to value Trossard significantly lower than £25m, while FootballTransfers gives him an Estimated Transfer Value of £14.3m (16.4m). Just how much the deal is worth, then, is for the moment unclear.MORE: Mykhailo Mudryk: Shakhtar make Arsenal tapping up claim
