Arsenal and Liverpool battle for €50m France attacker
Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly ready to compete with each other to sign Stade Rennais forward Martin Terrier this summer.
The Gunners' desire to sign an attacker has been well publicised, with Mikel Arteta's side chasing Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhailo Mudryk this month to provide depth and cover across their forward line.
However, they are yet to agree a fee with the Ukrainian side, although Foot Mercato have reported that the two clubs have edged closer to an agreement of €100 million for the young winger.

On the other hand, Liverpool have already added an attacker in January, signing long-term Manchester United target Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven to complement their existing options in forward areas.
However, according to Media Foot, both teams have enquired about the availability of Terrier this summer.
Terrier to the Premier League?
The Frenchman has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but a move never materialised due to Spurs' addition of Brazil international Richarlison.

However, he remains a player of great interest within the Premier League thanks to his impressive scoring record at Rennes. The 25-year-old bagged 17 Ligue 1 goals last season and has netted nine times in 16 appearances in the division this time around. But, he won't have the chance to add to that tally after suffering an ACL injury in early January, ruling him out until the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
Regardless, Media Foot have reported that Arsenal and Liverpool have enquired about whether a move for Terrier would be feasible, with Rennes demanding €50m for their star man.
With Arsenal seemingly on the verge of signing Mudryk and Liverpool adding Gakpo to their attacking riches, it does appear unlikely that Terrier joins either club, especially considering his injury.
Furthermore, Terrier tends to play as an inside forward on the left and with Mudryk set to join Gabriel Martinelli in that area at Arsenal, and Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez capable of playing there for Liverpool, Terrier is a strange transfer target.
A right-sided player is far more necessary for both teams, and is what should be pursued in January or the summer.
