‘Should have paid more for Caicedo!’ – Arsenal fans react to Jorginho transfer
Arsenal are set to sign Jorginho from Chelsea to bolster their midfield for the second half of the Premier League season.
A transfer fee around the £12 million mark has been agreed by the clubs, with Jorginho set to sign a contract that runs until 2024, with the option of an additional year.
Deadline Day: Every confirmed transfer around Europe
Despite coming close to signing Moises Caicedo, it appears that the Italy international is the player that Mikel Arteta and his squad will lean on for the second half of the campaign.
Jorginho was a player who split opinion among Chelsea fans, and the initial thoughts of Gunners appear to be along the same lines. Indeed, those at the Emirates Stadium believe that more of an effort should have been made to capture their top target.
Arsenal fans on Jorginho transfer
Absolutely disappointed! Could have paid 5m more for Caicedo.. they were not far off with the valuation.. short term solution (that too not sure how effective).

Glad it’s not a long term contract but it’s a major disappointment.

Yeah not pleased.
Does it make me confident for the future ie Declan Rice....NO
What it shows is when it comes to the crunch we are still found lacking and we end up making do. That's just transfer wise hope it's different on the pitch.
Just feels like an opportunity missed.— Carlos Bawss (@CarlosBawss) January 31, 2023
We need to learn from the past. This is Willian all over again. Ridiculous that it’s come to this. I’d rather us drop 40 on Gallagher than any of the other options if we can’t get caicedo

Fine, not great.

A fair number of Gunners fans, though, are satisfied with the move, taking the opinion that signing someone is better than not signing anyone at all.
People are forgetting to realise this guy was sought after by City before Chelsea hijacked him and didn’t know how to use him. There’s no coincidence why Arteta wants him

We haven't overpaid.
Adds some depth and experience.
Very underwhelming signing but better than nobody.— Steven Carr (@StevenC69884163) January 31, 2023

It’s a no lose deal. Low transfer fee, short term contract, experienced back up for a title charge. It’s not like he’s going to be a starter. Arsenal fans need to let go of the Cech, Luiz, Willian deals and back their new player.

Jorginho will be the first Chelsea player to join Arsenal since Willian in the summer of 2020.
