‘£50m plus KDB, Foden and Haaland’ – Chelsea fans react to Chilwell to Man City rumour

Ben Chilwell has been linked with a move from Chelsea to Manchester City in a deal that would eclipse Joao Cancelo transfer to Bayern Munich as the shock transfer of the window.

Indeed, Cancelo departing the Etihad Stadium amid an increasingly strained relationship with manager Pep Guardiola appears to have fuelled talk of the Premier League champions chasing another full-back.

The Daily Mail reports that one of City’s targets is Chilwell.

He may well be a player that Guardiola admires, yet the prospect of the Manchester side leveraging a deal for the 26-year-old appears incredibly slim.

Indeed, it appears likelier that Man City might move for Pedro Porro, whose move to Tottenham from Sporting CP has broken down. Guardiola’s side, meanwhile, has a buy-back option in the player’s contract.

Certainly, the idea of City being able to pinch a regular from Chelsea is one that has shocked Blues fans, who don’t see the deal as one that is possible.

Indeed, they have set outrageous terms for the transfer to get done.

But not every Blues fan believes that Chilwell should be retained at all costs.

Chilwell is given an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €31.2m by FootballTransfers largely because of his injury history in recent months. His peak value was €49m in November 2021.
