It may have been a relatively quiet January transfer window for Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag to date, but there is still work for the Old Trafford club to complete before it shuts.

United have signed Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland on loan and have also completed a temporary transfer for Wout Weghorst, who has joined up from Burnley having spent the first half of the season with Besiktas.

There are, however, three major issues to resolve before January ends.

What do Man Utd have to do?

Will Elanga or Pellistri go on loan?

There is intense interest for both Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri from clubs who are eager to sign one of the young Man Utd wingers on loan.

Elanga has attracted interest from Everton, but Fabrizio Romano reports that the Red Devils have had as many as 10 proposals for the Sweden international winger. It is reckoned that around five Premier League clubs are still interested in him, as well as PSV and Dortmund.

Similarly, Pellistri is subject to interest after appearing just a couple of times this season.

United have yet to make a call on the future of these players, with Ten Hag concerned about his lack of offensive depth.

Lindelof’s future

Manchester United are going to have to fend off interest in centre-back Victor Lindelof, who is still being courted by Inter.

The Italian side could lose Milan Skriniar to PSG in the closing hours of the transfer window and have identified the defender as their ideal replacement.

Although Lindelof has rarely played in the Premier League this season, he is seen as an important squad player to Ten Hag, who does not want to see him loaned or sold.

A transfer here looks unlikely.

Any more loans?

Man Utd may have played down the possibility of another arrival before the end of the window, but after Christian Eriksen picked up an injury at the weekend, the club must be looking into getting a late deal over the line.

With two domestic loans already secured, and arrival would have to come from abroad. Again, this looks like a complicated operation to achieve in a relatively short window of time.
