Why Caicedo doesn’t want to join Chelsea or Liverpool
Chelsea and Liverpool will not sign Moises Caicedo this month as the Brighton midfielder has made it clear he has no intention of leaving in January.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool are enduring miserable domestic seasons and are well off the top-four pace.
Both sides plan to sign a central midfielder this month in an attempt to rescue their seasons.

Caicedo is high up on the shortlist of both teams, with the Daily Mail reporting that Chelsea could launch a £70 million bid for the Ecuadorian star.
However, the chances of Caicedo leaving Brighton in January are slim as the player wants to stay at the club until the end of the season.
“We are having a great season with this coach and I am sure we are going to stay up there in the table. We are training very well, are very focused on every match and I’m sure we will take Brighton to a qualification place for the Europa League," Caicedo recently told Brighton's website.
It is also understood that Brighton don’t plan to consider selling Caicedo until the summer.
Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with the midfielder.

Caicedo has emerged as one of the most exciting young central midfielders not only in the Premier League but in all of Europe over the past year or so.
He joined Brighton from Independiente del Valle in 2020 before spending half a year on loan at Beerschot in 2021-22.
He returned to Brighton in January 2022 before really exploding onto the scene.
This season he has been key for a Brighton team that is challenging to finish in the European places.
Caicedo impresses at World Cup
Caicedo has also developed into Ecuador’s most admired player and he was outstanding during the group stages of the 2022 World Cup.
Ecuador impressed massively in their first two games, a 2-0 win over Qatar and 1-1 draw with Netherlands.
But they exited the tournament after losing 2-1 to Senegal in their final group game. Caicedo had equalised to make it 1-1 but Kalidou Koulibaly’s winner proved decisive for the Senegalese.
