Newcastle in talks to sign Real Madrid, Arsenal and Juventus target Fresneda

Newcastle United have begun talks with Real Valladolid over a possible move for young defender Ivan Fresneda.

Fresneda, 18, has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Juventus, while Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, who are famous for developing young talents, are another team that have expressed interest in the right-back. Arsenal, Inter Milan and AC Milan are three other clubs who are keeping a keen eye on Fresneda too.

The four-time capped Spain U19 international was on Real Madrid's books until 2018, when he left Los Blancos' youth set-up to join Leganes. He then joined Real Valladolid's youth team on a free transfer two years later.

Sky Sports News have reported that talks are now underway between Newcastle and Valladolid, with the Magpies keen to land the youngster in order to provide competition to Kieran Trippier.

Fresneda, who was born in Madrid, recently grabbed headlines with his performance against boyhood club Real after limiting Vinicius Junior to precious little and making eight tackles in the game. That display earned rave reviews and Eddie Howe's side are seemingly keen to secure a deal before other clubs start circling.

A potential deal still has plenty of work left before it's close to completion, especially considering Newcastle will need to fend off interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

How much will Fresneda cost?

Fresneda only played once in the Segunda Division last season, against Burgos in January 2022, but he's been more of a regular following their promotion to the top flight of Spanish football. The 18-year-old has featured in nine games this season, with five league starts so far.

According to FootballEspana, Fresneda's release clause currently lies at €30m, but this will increase to €45m if a number of clauses are met, including if he plays another 14 games.

If he is sold for his release clause, either €30m or €45m, it will be Valladolid's biggest ever sale, breaking the record set by Mohammed Salisu’s €12m transfer to Southampton in 2020.
