Erik ten Hag’s summer plans, initially reported by FootballTransfers, have been published elsewhere in the media.

MEN reports that the Dutchman wants at least two significant signings in the summer. There will be

midfield reinforcements and a first-choice centre-back should captain Harry Maguire leave.

As we reported, the club have been preparing for a mass exodus with Ten Hag wanting to bring in his own players into the fold - ones that would have the ‘personality’ he so often speaks about.

MEN states that player sales would help an intended move for a midfielder and that Ten Hag is open to a second pursuit of Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona, while a move for Jude Bellingham could be on the cards.

It comes after FootballTransfer revealed that the contracts of Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot are pretty much wrapped up. Two players who had uncertain futures have done enough to secure lengthy deals at Old Trafford.

In terms of the takeover, the Qataris and Sir Jim Ratcliffe lead the race to buy the club. However, there are some fears that the Glazers will just sell a portion of the club rather than a complete takeover.

It was thought initially that this was a move to ensure they get higher bids but now there are genuine prospects that the Americans will keep their foot in the door in some way.

As we reported before, the likes of Maguire, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial, et all, will be moved on.

Maguire said after the League Cup final win over Newcastle: "The lads who are playing and starting, Rapha (Varane) is playing really well and we have seen his ideas, the manager, what he wants, and he does like a left-footed centre-back playing. So no, it’s high competition for places.

"This is Manchester United. We want to win trophies, and big trophies and to do that you need competition for places and the manager speaks to me daily and he really respects me and believes that I am a top centre half with all the attributes to play in his team.

"But also he understands that the players who are playing – and I understand that the players who are playing – are playing very well."
