Ansu Fati breaks silence on Premier League transfer rumours

Barcelona attacker Ansu Fati has broken his silence on transfer interest from the Premier League.

The 20-year-old has long been regarded as one of the jewels of La Masia, but injury problems have seen him restricted to 33 appearances this season, including just 10 starts, in which he has scored six goals and generated three assists.

Barcelona might have hoped that Ansu was a first-team regular by now, but he has also seen his minutes squeezed by a resurgent Ousmane Dembele, the increasingly impressive Raphinha, as well as Ferran Torres.

There has been speculation that Ansu has grown unsettled by this lack of playing time and could decided to seek a summer transfer.

Manchester United have long been associated with the promising Spain star, but Fabrizio Romano recently indicated that Arsenal and Liverpool are also eyeing up a potential summer swoop for a player with an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €27.4 million.

Will Barcelona sell Ansu Fati?

Ansu Fati has spoken out for the first time following the reports and has pledged his immediate future to Barcelona.

“I’m under contract with Barcelona until June 2027 and I hope to stay here for many more years,” he told Jugones.

In usual circumstances, Barcelona would not think about selling such a player, but given their financial position and the fact that Ansu has been a back-up player for much of this season, their stance on the youngster may be flexible.

The Catalans have been told to slash their wage bill in the summer and it may be that either some big earners or lesser-used players have to be sacrificed.

Frenkie de Jong may have been a star performer this season, but he has not fallen into line with president Joan Laporta’s new wage structure and could be one who is sold, while Ansu is another who could go given the healthy return the club could get from him in terms of a transfer fee.
