Liverpool ready to sell defensive duo to fund transfers
Liverpool are prepared to sell two defenders from their squad this summer to fund their other transfers as they look to rebuild their squad.
The Reds have had a difficult season thus far, as they sit 10th in the Premier League and their most recent result was a 3-0 defeat against Wolves.
It’s clear that they need to reinforce their squad in the summer transfer window to avoid a more permanent slump, and they can do that by selling their underperforming talent.

As a result, two defenders – Joel Matip and Nat Philipps – are linked with moves away from Anfield in the summer as the Liverpool exodus is set to begin, according to Football Insider.
Matip and Phillips to go
Matip has had a poor season and has slipped to fourth in the pecking order at Liverpool due to his form and that has opened the door for a summer exit.
Just a few years ago, he was seen as the ideal partner for Virgil van Dijk, but his inconsistency and fitness issues have been a problem and a move could be on the cards for him in the summer.

He joined the club on a free transfer in 2016 and has a contract until 2024, so he won’t be that expensive for any club interested in a deal for the Cameroonian.
The other player Liverpool are willing to let go is Phillips, who has rarely played for the Reds this season, making just five appearances across all competitions.
He is seen as a depth option at the club and Liverpool would be willing to sell him permanently, having sent him out on loan to Stuttgart and Bournemouth in the past.
With the pair set to depart, Jurgen Klopp’s side would be open to signing one senior centre-half to add more depth to the squad in the summer and make up for the loss of the duo.
