Update on Ten Hag's Man Utd future amid takeover bid

Manchester United are in the process of being sold by the Glazer family, although it is unclear whether it’ll be a full sale or a majority sale.

On Friday, the soft deadline for potential bidders had passed, and there was interest from Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad al Thani from Qatar and Jim Ratcliffe, the chairman of INEOS.

The Sheikh’s proposal was for a full takeover, while Ratcliffe’s was only a majority stake in the club.

Whatever happens, there will be an impact on Erik ten Hag’s future at the club and how he will operate in the coming years.

Ten Hag to be backed

Ten Hag has done an impressive job at Manchester United so far, winning 26 out of his first 37 matches in charge of the team.

They are also in a cup final, hoping to win their first trophy in nearly six years, and are still active in all four competitions.

There have been suggestions that his position may be under consideration under new owners, but journalist Dean Jones has cleared any doubts about the Dutchman’s future.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones said: "I don't think Erik ten Hag would be in any danger whatsoever.

"He's the first person in 10 years, basically, to show any signs of having clear potential to improve players and improve the squad in every way. He's actually taking players as projects and improving them."

Both potential bidders have said they plan big investments in the club beyond just the men’s first team and they want to see overall progress.

Investments in the club range across the stadium, training facility, women’s team and youth academy as both potential owners said they want to bring Manchester United back to their glory days.

Ten Hag will want to be at the heart of any future investments and will want to see growth in a side he has worked hard to build over the last few months.
