Marcus Rashford on course for shock shirt number change
Marcus Rashford is arguably Europe’s most in-form player at the minute, having scored the most goals in Europe since the World Cup.
The Englishman has been on fire since returning from the tournament in Qatar and has contributed heavily to Manchester United’s recent successes.
There has been talk of extending his contract - which expires at the end of next season - to reflect this improved form and they want to keep him at Manchester United for the long run.

Other than a contract, there is also another change which he may go through, and that involves his shirt number.
Rashford may get number seven
Rashford already adorns the number 10, taken over after Zlatan Ibrahimovic left the club in 2018, and he has done well with it.
His best seasons have come with that shirt, as he scored over 20 goals in three of his last four campaigns and is already on career-best numbers this season.

Previous Manchester United greats to have had that number include Denis Law, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney, and Rashford is hoping to continue that legacy.
According to The Sun, Manchester United are now considering giving him the number seven, which has an even bigger legacy at the club.

Previous players to have had that number include George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo, who vacated the shirt after his departure earlier this season.
Rashford has shown the qualities to take up the pressure of that shirt having seen many others before him struggle with that number.
He has scored 24 goals and provided eight assists this season, and since the World Cup, he has scored in big moments in matches against Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and others.
Rashford will have the chance to end Manchester United’s six-year trophy drought next week when his side take on Newcastle United in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley.
