Why Casemiro has ‘inspired’ Man Utd to break transfer RECORD for Kane
Manchester United are willing to make Harry Kane the most expensive British player of all-time this summer after the success of their big money outlay on Casemiro last year.
United have prioritised the signing of a number nine this off-season and the Mirror reports that Kane is the club’s number one target, with the Tottenham striker entering into the final year of his contract.
While Tottenham are reluctant to sell their star man to a divisional rival, Kane has not indicated that he would be willing to sign a new deal at the club, meaning Spurs could end up cashing in.
REVEALED: How Haaland to Real Madrid could impact United's Kane pursuit
Erik ten Hag believes that Kane’s signing will turn United into genuine title contenders but the club are aware they may need to eclipse the £100 million fee Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish in 2021.
Tottenham will go another year without silverware after being knocked out of the Champions League by Milan and Kane is believed to be ready to leave his boyhood club.
However, the England captain is less keen to move to Bayern Munich as he closes in on the all-time Premier League goalscoring record, making a move to United appealing if Spurs are willing to negotiate.
Casemiro impact encourages United to go big
Kane is seen as someone who can make an immediate impact at Old Trafford and United are convinced to splash the cash on him despite him turning 30 this summer after the success of Casemiro’s signing.
Casemiro was also 30 when he signed from Real Madrid last summer for £70m and the Brazilian has been the catalyst to United’s upturn in form this season, with his performances bringing a new level of pedigree to the team.
DIFFERENCE MAKER: United's record with and without Casemiro
Eyebrows were initially raised when United spent such a large outlay on a player who may have peaked physically but Casemiro has proved to be worth every penny and Ten Hag believes Kane could make a similar impression.
As a result, United will go all-in on Kane, meaning they may be unable to make further big signings should they end up breaking their transfer record, although the forward is seen as the missing piece to end the club’s decade-long wait for a Premier League title.
