Cristiano Ronaldo was taunted by Lionel Messi fans once again after another frustrating display for Al-Nassr, leading to his first defeat with his new team.

Ronaldo failed to score for the second game running as Al-Nassr lost to rivals Al-Ittihad and surrendered their position at the top of the table to their opponents.

The 38-year-old had already been mocked by Messi fans in his last game and he reacted strongly to his rival’s name being chanted before booting a bottle away in frustration after the final whistle.

MESSI IS BETTER!: Ronaldo trolled after goalless Al-Nassr display

Ronaldo endured a tough evening, culminating in a free-kick in the first half which he blazed over the bar, prompting fans inside the stadium to chant ‘Messi, Messi!’

The Portuguese star responded by making a ‘mouth’ gesture with his hands and mockingly imitating the fans, with the forward clearly irritated by the constant comparisons to Messi.

Ronaldo has netted eight goals in seven games since joining the Saudi side in December but and the result was his first loss with the club and just Al-Nassr’s second of the season.

Despite the loss and the subsequent criticism from some Al-Nassr supporters, Ronaldo took to social media to praise the fans and set his sights on the club’s next game.

“Disappointed with the result, but we stay focused on our season and the games ahead,” he tweeted. “Thank you Al Nassr fans for your support, we know we can count on you!”

Messi, meanwhile, suffered his own setback this week, with Paris Saint-Germain being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.

And the Argentine also suffered some teasing for his troubles, with Bayern forward Thomas Muller claiming that Bayern had an easier time against Messi than Ronaldo.

"Against Messi, things always go well at all levels in terms of results," Muller said. "At club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when he was at Real Madrid."
