Who is Amar Dedic? Salzburg's right-back scouted by Arsenal and Barcelona

Arsenal and Barcelona are both looking for a new right-back next summer, and Amar Dedic has attracted their interest with his performances for Red Bull Salzburg and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Arsenal and Barcelona are top of the Premier League and La Liga respectively, but both have a problem position at right-back.

Ben White has thrived for the Gunners this season, but he is a centre-back by trade, while Takehiro Tomiyasu, a specialist in the position, has had to undergo surgery for a knee injury.

Hector Bellerin, previously of Arsenal, returned to Barca last summer, meanwhile, but it didn't work out for him at Camp Nou. He is now with Sporting CP in Portugal while Jules Kounde, another centre-back, plays on the right.

Dedic is no such stop-gap. The 20-year-old has made the right-back spot his own in Salzburg this season, and could be onto bigger things this summer…

What position does Dedic play in?

Dedic is an attacking right-back who enjoys bombing forward on his favoured side. He can also fill in on the opposite flank.

How good is Dedic?

Dedic certainly looks to be an exciting prospect. Still just 20, he has contributed two goals and three assists in all competitions for Salzburg this season.

He has also averaged more than three tackles and clearances over the last year in the Austrian Bundesliga, putting him in the 97th percentile league-wide one both fronts, and confirming his ability on both sides of the ball.

He recently opened his international account as Bosnia-Herzegovina beat Iceland in Euro 2024 qualifying - in some style too!

What clubs are interested in Dedic?

As well as Arsenal and Barcelona, AC Milan have sent scouts to watch Dedic in recent months, while the path between Salzburg and their sister club RB Leipzig is well-trodden.

He is valued at €14.9 million by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm, but the competition for his signature could drive up his price, certainly beyond Barcelona's reach.

Dedic's renewed his contract at the Red Bull Arena in January, and is now tied to Salzburg until June 2027.
