''Talk about wasting money!'' Chelsea owners criticised by former Premier League manager

Former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has been heavily critical of the Chelsea owners' approach.

Todd Boehly and co. only completed the takeover of the Blues a year ago but they have already spent an incredible amount of money.

Indeed, the new owners have laid out over £500 million on transfers in their first season in charge.

It also cost them millions to sack Thomas Tuchel, buy Graham Potter and his team out of their Brighton contracts and then let go of them all.

The money spent has certainly not helped the west London club as they are struggling in the bottom half of the Premier League and out of all cup competitions.

Allardyce on Chelsea owners

''Talk about wasting money!'' Allardyce criticised the Chelsea owners on talkSPORT today.

''It’s the opposite to Newcastle. Newcastle haven’t been sucked into spending wildly on players they haven’t done enough research on.

''[Chelsea's owners] have delved into a business they know little or nothing about.''

'Big Sam' also said that the Blues made the wrong decision in sacking Graham Potter weeks ago.

''They should have been more patient. They should have left Graham Potter to it.''

While Allardyce also pointed out that one of Chelsea's biggest issues is the size of their squad.

''There’s nothing worse for team morale than not fitting [the players] into one dressing room.

''Imagine that, you’re a first-team player, you’ve been bought for £10m and you might have to change in the dressing room next door.

''The club is in a terrible state at the minute and you can see that by the performances on the field.''
