WATCH: Howe TEARS into Man Utd boss Ten Hag over time-wasting
Eddie Howe has responded to the criticism aimed at his club by Erik ten Hag.
The Newcastle boss oversaw his side dominate the Red Devils on Sunday, winning 2-0 to move the Magpies into third spot in the Premier League.
Ahead of the match, Ten Hag spoke about how he will ensure that the opposition does not try and keep the ball out of play and waste time on the field.

The former Ajax boss said “We know they delay, yeah. It's something that is what the referees don't want, they want to have tempo in the game. That is the aim of the Premier League to have tempo in the game. So they (referees) also have to be consistent to let the game go. Do and act what the policy is.’
Goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson gave Newcastle the win at St James’ Park, in what was a resolute display from Howe’s men.
Howe rejects claim
Ahead of Newcastle’s game on Wednesday night against West Ham, Howe was asked about the way in which his side play and if he agreed with Ten Hag’s assessment.
He said: “I think our first intention is to always play the game and we want, as I said after the game, we want the ball in play. I encourage my players all the time to get the ball back in play very quickly. We want to play at a high tempo and want to wear teams down physically.

Howe continued: “That goes against what was said about us. Of course, there’s been times in games where we have to manage the game. We have to use experience, we have to do whatever we can to get a positive result. I’m not saying we won’t do that either. Certainly that’s not our first intention.”
