The Reds are set for a revolution in the middle of the park after a dreadful 2022-23 season in which almost every midfielder has underperformed.

And Romano has revealed that Liverpool are working on deals for Bayern Munich wonderkid Ryan Gravenberch, Chelsea contract rebel Mason Mount and Brighton’s World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister.

What did Romano say about Liverpool midfield plans?

"Liverpool approached the agents of Ryan Gravenberch,” Romano explained.

“They had a direct contact, they want to push, so Liverpool are still there for Gravenberch.

"They are not giving up and they consider him the perfect signing.

"Young, talented, prepared to play a lot of games.

"The player wants to have some guarantees, he wants to play and not be on the bench.

"Bayern, the board and the manager want Gravenberch to stay. Bayern at this stage have no intention to negotiate.

"Let's see if Bayern can convince the player to stay as they consider him a really important player.

"For Liverpool, the priorities remain Mason Mount and Alexis Mac Allister.

"They will have contacts with the camp of Mac Allister very soon, in the next two to three weeks.

"Liverpool want new midfielders."

It is widely accepted that Liverpool will sign at least two midfielders this summer, with there being a very real possibility that they could actually buy three established players in the position.

Liverpool are hoping for a renaissance next season after falling well short of all their objectives in 2022-23.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are eight in the Premier League, nine points off a Champions League place with eight games to go.

They are also out of all cup competitions.
