Manchester United have entered the race to sign Jude Bellingham, with Erik ten Hag ‘urgently’ wanting to bring the Borussia Dortmund and England star to Old Trafford this summer.

Bellingham has long been linked with a move to Liverpool, but it emerged earlier this week that the Reds have decided against pursuing the 19-year-old due to the fee Dortmund are reportedly demanding.

The German giants are said to want around €120m plus add-ons for Bellingham, who became the most expensive teenager of all time when he completed his switch from boyhood club Birmingham City in 2020.

According to Patrick Berger, chief reporter at German outlet Sport1, Ten Hag is desperate to add Bellingham to his ranks – although Man Utd could face stiff competition in the form of Real Madrid and local rivals Manchester City.

However, the report adds that it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Bellingham stays at Dortmund – where his current contract runs until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Chelsea and Premier League leaders Arsenal have also been touted as potential destinations for Bellingham, whose stunning development into a complete midfielder has made him arguably the most sought-after player in world football.

A historic season

Bellingham has only gone from strength to strength this term, helping Dortmund push Bayern Munich all the way in the Bundesliga title race and starring for England at the 2022 World Cup.

Still two months short of his 20th birthday, he’s already racked up 127 appearances for BVB, scoring 20 goals – of which 10 have come in 2022/23.

Back in October, Bellingham made history by becoming the youngest player ever captain Dortmund when he wore the armband against Koln, describing the experience as “a dream come true”.
