Liverpool to sell transfer flop after one season
Liverpool's summer clearout could include promising youngster Fabio Carvalho, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 20-year-old arrived from Fulham last summer after enjoying a remarkable campaign as the London side won promotion to the Premier League. Having contributed with 10 goals and eight assists in 36 Championship games, there was nothing surprising about the Portuguese getting snapped up by a big club like Liverpool.
Indeed, their faith in the youngster appeared to be justified. Carvalho featured prominently in Liverpool's midfield in the early stages of this season and he won himself plenty of plaudits at Merseyside, albeit mostly as a substitute. Since last autumn, however, things have changed drastically for him at Anfield.

With the exception of three and two-minute cameos against Southampton in December and during Liverpool's embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth in March respectively, the 20-year-old has not featured in the Premier League since late October 2022. With Liverpool set for a large summer clearout, particularly in midfield, reports now suggest that Carvalho will be one of its casualties.

Leaving after one season
Citing his sources, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano announced on the Here We Go podcast that the 20-year-old is on his way out of Anfield after just one season in what is a surprising revelation despite Carvalho's lack of game time.
"I see Liverpool going for two or three midfielders because Naby Keita is out, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain is out and James Milner needs to decide on his future," the Italian stated. “Will they also go for one more striker or another type of player in one of those positions?"

"Fabio Carvalho," he continued, "I am told is also leaving. We have to see what solution they will find but he is young and he is never playing so it is important to clarify these things."
