Liverpool favourites to sign LaLiga star
Liverpool have been following the development of Nico Williams for some time, and they are now considered favourites to sign the LaLiga ace.
The Athletic Bilbao winger - not to be confused with his Welsh, ex-Liverpool namesake Neco Williams - has been one of the breakout stars of this season in Spain. His impressive form has already earned him several call-ups to the senior Spanish national team despite his tender years.
The 20-year-old, whose brother Inaki is on course to become an Athletic Club legend, has seven goals and six assists in 33 appearances across all competitions this term, terrifying defences with his skill and pace.
His bursting on the scene has not only seen his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) skyrocket from €4.9 million in July 2022 to €22m in April 2023, but it has also attracted the intention of some of Europe's biggest sides, including several Premier League giants - one of whom is now understood to lead the race to secure the starlet.

Williams at Anfield?
According to reports in Spain, Williams "plans a change of scenery for next season," and this has not gone unnoticed by "the Anfield team, who are the great favourites to get the attacker's signature during the next transfer window," reports Fichajes. That is, "as long as he does not decide to continue at San Mamés, where he has a contract in force until June 30, 2024."
However, reports the Spanish outlet, "at the moment there are certain problems regarding a renewal agreement that are causing all kinds of rumours about his possible departure."
Nico Williams has been called up to the Spain squad by Luis Enrique. Big talent. He reminds me of Sadio Mané before Liverpool.

The fact that a deal for a contract extension has not yet been struck is the reason for "some nervousness at Athletic Bilbao" because the club is well aware that "it is impossible to compete sportingly and economically with a team of the stature of Liverpool."
