Manchester United are ready to change direction in the race for a central midfield player in the transfer window, with the Red Devils having “forgotten Jude Bellingham”, according to a report.

Erik ten Hag’s side have numerous key targets in the summer, including a No.9, but the possibility of adding another midfielder to their ranks rates highly on the Dutchman’s to-do list.

Clubs are jostling to sign Bellingham in what promises to be a fraught summer battle. Real Madrid and Manchester City are thought to be leading the way, but as FootballTransfers revealed, Liverpool have not given up landing the Borussia Dortmund and England star either.

The competition is likely to see Bellingham move for a massive figure – probably upwards of €120 million – and with numerous issues in the squad to address, Ten Hag and Man Utd are not ready to commit such resources towards one player.

Fichajes, meanwhile, reports that the Red Devils are instead focusing on signing Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €31.4m.

The World Cup winner is wanted by a string of big clubs this summer but United hope that by putting him front and centre of their plans they will be able to beat clubs who are eyeing others.

Mac Allister on the move

One of the attractive features of Mac Allister this summer, meanwhile, is that he will leave the Seagulls, who also face a battle to retain Moises Caicedo, a player FootballTransfers exclusively revealed to be Arsenal’s main goal for the summer window.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on the player: “Mac Allister will 100 per cent leave Brighton in the summer. The player has been very clear on that and it's something that was already discussed with the Brighton board...Mac Allister wants to move as soon as possible in the transfer window.”

Now it’s up to Man Utd to get the transfer done.
