Man Utd open contract talks with midfield star, Fabrizio Romano reveals
Manchester United have opened contract talks with Fred over a fresh deal.
Fabrizio Romano spilt the beans on his YouTube channel, saying that a new deal is afoot.
There have been question marks over whether the side will offer a new deal to the Brazil international, with Erik ten Hag wanting something of a squad overhaul.
But Romano has said that there will be talks between the player’s side and the club.
Fred’s current deal runs out in 2024, meaning that he will either have to be sold this summer or risk going on a free next year.

Fred was bought from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 for f £47 million but his form since then has been inconsistent.
But he’s appeared to have done enough under Erik ten Hag and it appears that has earned him a fresh contract at Old Trafford.

A Fred alternative
It comes after the news that Man Utd have identified a fresh alternative to Fred.
Well, that’s according to Sofyan Amrabat's agent, who has suggested that a move away from Fiorentina still has potential.
It was reported that the Red Devils were keen on the Moroccan, who enjoyed a phenomenal World Cup last year.
It seemed that there were plenty of clubs keen on the player - but that interest has somewhat dwindled.
But Mohamed Sinouh, Amrabat's agent, told Kora Plus: "We received more than one offer during the winter window. Including one from Manchester United, but the negotiation was not completed. The president of Fiorentina (Rocco Commisso) absolutely refused to let him leave at that moment. He represented value for the team, especially after what he did in the World Cup.”
“The future? At the moment we have no offers for the summer. But Fiorentina will listen to the offers. It’s a promise we got from the president after he rejected the offers in the winter transfer market.”
