Ten Hag interest in full-back perfect for Man Utd confirmed
Manchester United's interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong has been confirmed. Here's why the Dutchman would be perfect for Erik ten Hag and company.
The Red Devils have been scouring the market for an ideal right-back who will add not just depth but quality to a position that has been something of a problem area this season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has not come to grips with life under Ten Hag and could be moved on in the next transfer window. Diogo Dalot, meanwhile, is out of contract in the summer, and although United are keen to get him to extend his stay, they want a better, more attacking option at right-back seeing as though neither Dalot nor Wan-Bissaka is particularly productive going forward.

This has led to several names being linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Benjamin Pavard being the most high-profile one. The Frenchman, however, is only really an attacking threat in the sense that he has an eye for goal, he is not someone who will terrorise defenders on the flanks. Fellow Bundesliga star Jeremie Frimpong is a better option.
What can Frimpong offer?
Indeed, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now confirmed that talks between United and Frimpong's camp are ongoing. Ten Hag is said to greatly admire his compatriot, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old has emerged as the Bundesliga's most dangerous full-back since his move from Celtic in 2021, racking up eight goals and nine assists across all competitions this season. He has been a big part of Leverkusen's resurgence under Xabi Alonso.

A SciSports data analyst has told FootballTransfers that Jeremie Frimpong is the best-performing full-back in Germany's top flight due to his 0.54 goal involvements per 90. The Dutchman is "not great at passing," but a "phenomenal dribbler" and looks exactly like the type of attack-minded player Erik ten Hag wants in that position.
