Ten players who could transfer to Man Utd this summer
Manchester United will be looking to bolster their ranks during the upcoming summer transfer window after a spellbinding first season with Erik ten Hag at the helm.
The Red Devils enjoyed rich success in the Dutchman’s inaugural campaign - but the aim is, of course, to win that elusive Premier League title, the silverware that they have not won since the halcyon years of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Of course, being the club they are, there are plenty of huge names being linked to the Old Trafford outfit.
FootballTransfers takes you through 10 of the most notable names that Man Utd have been linked to.
Victor Osimhen
Napoli’s hitman has enjoyed his best season in Serie A - emerging as one of the biggest stars in world football. Naturally, Man Utd are looking at him, in their bid to find a world-class No.9.
The striker will have his pick of clubs to choose from - Paris Saint-Germain director Luis Campos is also said to be a huge fan following his Lille days - but Ten Hag may wish to push the boat in his quest to find an attacker who presses as well as scores goals.
However, Napoli have seemingly priced Osimhen out of a move, which means a move to Man Utd is unlikely at this stage.
Harry Kane
Harry Kane is in the final year of his contract at Tottenham. Club chairman Daniel Levy is a notoriously tough negotiator and Man Utd will be wanting to get their business done early in the window.
As well as this, Spurs are demanding £100million for their all-time goal-scorer. But Man Utd will be attracted by Kane’s superb goal record in the Premier League - and know that are almost guaranteed 25 goals-plus should they sign the England captain.
Randal Kolo Muani
Randal Kolo Muani is a man who may be on the move this summer window, but Frankfurt are expected to demand a huge fee for the striker.
After a breathless World Cup, the Frenchman has shot to stardom on the European stage. He is notable given that he was a huge goal-contribution record, either finding the net himself or providing a teammate to do so. Might be a bit of an outside shot for Man Utd, given Kolo Muani would come at a similar cost to Kane.
Frenkie de Jong
Are we set for another saga involving Ten Hag and his former Ajax steward? It was well-known over the summer transfer window that a bid was accepted by Barcelona from Man Utd. But the player refused to move, saying that he wanted to remain at his dream club. But the rumours have not yet died down and links persist between the Dutchman and the Red Devils.
Mehdi Taremi
O Jogo have reported that Taremi is being monitored by both Arsenal and Man Utd, with the latter said to be keeping a keen eye on the Iran international as an option if they fail to agree a fee with Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund.
The Porto veteran is viewed as an ideal squad player and given Anthony Martial's contract is set to expire next year and Wout Weghorst's loan deal has ended, he would add much-needed firepower to the Man Utd frontline.
Sofyan Amrabat
Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is wanted by Man Utd, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers.
Ten Hag has pin-pointed Amrabat as his main target for United;s midfield ahead of the new season and will action a move for the Fiorentina player once the deals for Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund are wrapped up and Fred is moved on.
Authoritative sources have informed us that Ten Hag wanted either Declan Rice or Frenkie de Jong for the upcoming window but the ongoing and protracted takeover saga, which has severely restricted the head coach’s transfer kitty, and Financial Fair Play regulations mean he will look to Amrabat to bolster the double-pivot of his 4-2-3-1 formation next campaign.
Romeo Lavia
Arsenal and Liverpool appear to be leading the race for Southampton star Romeo Lavia, but talks of a move for the Belgian has died down slightly, which could allow Man Utd to swoop and secure his signature.
Despite Mount's arrival, Lavia is admired by the Man Utd hierarchy and the Red Devils could pursue a deal if Fred and/or Scott McTominay depart.
Jeremie Frimpong
Man Utd have been linked to Jeremie Frimpong ever since the World Cup. He is a Bayer Leverkusen star, having performed tremendously in the Bundesliga. Despite the decent form of Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, the word is that Man Utd are after another right-back. And Frimpong certainly fits the bill for Ten Hag’s blueprint in more ways than one.
Rasmus Hojlund
With Osimhen and Kane looking unrealistic, Man Utd appear set on signing Atalanta starlet Rasmus Hojlund, who could cost roughly €50m.
The Red Devils are reportedly set to offer Amad Diallo to Atalanta on a one-year loan as a makeweight in the deal, which could tempt the Serie A side into a sale.
Andre Onana
With David de Gea now having left Man Utd following the expiration of his contract, the Red Devils are closing in on signing Inter Milan's Andre Onana as his replacement.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper was previously linked to Chelsea, but the Blues seem to be trusting Kepa Arrizabalaga with the number one jersey, paving the way for Onana to move to Old Trafford.
Personal terms have been agreed and it's just a matter of time before United get their man.
