The Spanish boss is looking at a huge overhaul and the midfielder could be one to be moved on.

The Mirror reports that several Serie A clubs are weighing up a move for Partey, while his current side is thought to be open to selling the midfielder just three years after activating his £45million release clause from Atletico Madrid.

The Ghana international, who turns 30 next month, was benched for three games in a row - not making the first XI against Chelsea, Newcastle and Brighton.

Against Nottingham Forest, Areteta placed him at right-back, but it’s a move that didn’t really work out, with the north London side losing 1-0 at the City Ground.

It has been widely reported that West Ham captain Declan Rice is Arsenal’s number one target - while Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Ilkay Gundogan – who is out of contract in the summer - have also been linked.

Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka is expected to make a £15million move to Bayer Leverkusen, which would mark a return to Germany for the Swiss.

Elsewhere, Kieran Tierney has been extensively linked to Newcastle, Rob Holding is being looked at by a few clubs in the Premier League clubs. Emile Smith Rowe may even leave, it has been reported.

Loanees making a return, such as Nuno Tavares, Folarin Balogun, Nicolas Pepe and Albert Sambi Lokonga, are also expected to leave the club permanently.

FootballTransfers reported that Arteta will be given a massive war chest of £200m for the transfer window - while they can also add to that kitty through player sales.
