Barcelona 'guaranteed' €70m offer for Fati amid Man Utd and Arsenal interest
Barcelona have been ‘guaranteed’ that they will receive at least €70 million for one of their wantaway stars this summer as they look to generate revenue to ease their financial concerns.
The Catalan outfit have been told by La Liga that they must raise €200m in sales before being allowed to register any new signings, despite Barca already attempting to bring in players already.
Barca have reportedly agreed to sign Inigo Martinez from Athletic Bilbao when his contract expires at the end of the season and they are still pushing to re-sign Lionel Messi in a similar fashion, as well as secure a €40m deal for Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque.
IMPOSSIBLE: Why Messi return could be difficult for Barcelona
Outgoings will likely be essential to Barca’s summer plans and one player who is expected to be attract interest is Ansu Fati, with the forward said to be disillusioned after a lack of gametime this season.
Fati has made just 11 starts in La Liga during the campaign despite once being considered the club’s brightest prospect and he is thought to be wanted by the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.
The 20-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is reported by SPORT as having reassured Barca that they will raise €70m through his sale to a Premier League side, although Fati himself has yet to determine whether he wishes to leave the club.
Why Fati could be heading for Barca exit
Fati still has four years remaining on his contract, having signed a long-term deal with a €1billion release clause in 2021, when he enjoyed a breakout campaign for Barca.
However, Fati has since struggled with injuries and consistency issues, leading to just four goals in 30 league appearances – the same amount as he has scored in each of the last two seasons despite playing more than three times the games this year.
Barca are determined to bring in Messi and the Argentine’s return could further limit the gametime for Fati next season, prompting tentative interest from teams across Europe.
The forward will likely be told to leave Barca this summer in order for the club to generate income, however the €70m fee ‘guaranteed’ by Mendes may prove difficult to command despite the interest from the Premier League.
