Mac Allister is expected to leave Brighton this summer after four seasons with the club and Liverpool are believed to be front runners to sign him, having held talks with his representatives in recent weeks.

The 24-year-old has netted ten times for Brighton this season and won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, leading to Liverpool making their move for him, with Brighton likely to demand in excess of £60 million for their star man.

Liverpool’s number ten shirt has been vacant this season, having previously been worn by Sadio Mane, who left for Bayern Munich last summer.

Mac Allister wears the number ten for Brighton and a report by Argentine outlet ole states that the same number is ‘ready’ for him at Liverpool as they look to beat their rivals to his signing.

The likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for Mac Allister and a move is expected to be finalised early in the transfer window.

Liverpool set to undergo midfield makeover

Liverpool are keen to sign Mac Allister as they look to finally undergo a much-needed revamp to their midfield, with a host of players set to leave this summer.

The contracts of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita will expire at the end of the season, with all three expected to leave, while Arthur Melo will return to Juventus after a disastrous loan spell.

As a result, Liverpool are looking to sign multiple midfielders this summer after pulling out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham despite previously positioning themselves as favourites for his signature.

The likes of Moises Caicedo, Ryan Gravenberch and Mason Mount all remain high on Liverpool’s shortlist but Mac Allister is likely to be the player most heavily pursued going into the summer window.
