Man Utd HALVE price tag for youngster

Manchester United have decided to halve the price tag of Anthony Elanga in a bid to get the youngster off their books.

The winger has been linked with a move away since the January window, but no clubs made a firm offer for him.

Manchester Evening Evening reports that they have dropped the asking price for Sweden international to £10million.

Initially, they wanted to loan Elanga out but now they have opted to make his move away permanent.

Elanga has not played in the Premier League since Man Utd lost 7-0 to Liverpool, making one start in six months.

There remain question marks around the budget that Erik ten Hag will receive in the summer window is yet to be disclosed.

The Glazers are yet to decide who will be their preferred bidder for the takeover.

If they do stay throughout the summer transfer window, the Glazers may impose tighter restrictions on how much money Ten Hag will get to play with.

The Dutch manager made comments referring to the winter transfer window after he spent over £200m last summer.

In January, his club were only able to complete the loan signings of Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer.

“The club knows that if you want to play top four, if you want to compete for trophies in this tough league, you have to invest, otherwise you won’t progress because other clubs will,” Ten Hag said.

“We saw it in the winter. All the clubs around us invested. We didn’t and still we made it. So I am really happy and proud of my team.”

Speaking to the press following his side's season-ending 2-1 win over Fulham at Old Trafford, Ten Hag said: "We are in the right direction, but we are not there where we have to be, there's still a long way to go, there's potential in this team and individual players," he said..

"We showed during the season we made progress, that's a compliment to the players and the coaches, we worked really hard, but we have to make an investment.

"The club knows if you want to play top four, compete for trophies in this tough league then you have to invest otherwise you don't have a chance because other clubs will do."
