Manchester United outcast Anthony Elanga has emerged as a possible target for RB Leipzig, having seemingly fallen out of favour under Erik ten Hag.

A regular during the first half of the season, the versatile winger has featured only nine times in all competitions since the turn of the year – failing to even make the matchday squad for four of Man Utd’s last five games.

As such, there is speculation that the 21-year-old Swedish international’s future could lie away from Old Trafford.

According to Sky Sport in Germany, Leipzig have been keeping tabs on Elanga – who came through the United youth system and made his first-team debut this time two years ago.

Our in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) model currently values the Malmo-born forward at €13.5m.

Elanga has made 26 appearances in league and cup this term – although he has started just once since the World Cup, and not in the Premier League since Man Utd’s final match before the tournament back in November.

A frustrating season

Speaking in March, Elanga admitted that he had found the current campaign somewhat difficult. He told Swedish outlet Aftonbladet: “It is frustrating. You want to play – it’s important – but whether you play or not, it’s up to the coach, not me.

“I have spoken to Erik [ten Hag] and it is private between the two of us. I know what he wants me to do and I just keep training hard. When the opportunity comes, I just have to be ready to take it.”

Elanga won’t get many more chances to play in 2022-23, though: United have just three games remaining: home Premier League clashes with Chelsea and Fulham, and the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
