Man Utd's priorities for transfer window revealed by Romano
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed which positions Manchester United are particularly keen to strengthen in the summer.
Much improved under Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils are still far from the finished product as results against Newcastle United and Sevilla have shown this term. The squad needs to be augmented before Premier League titles and Champions Leagues can return to Old Trafford.
Indeed, with this in mind, the upcoming summer is set to be a big one in terms of squad building as a lot of deadwood will be offloaded, while more quality is to be brought in. That United are in the market for a 'proper number nine' is not news. Erik ten Hag publicly stated it after his side's 2-2 draw with Spurs last week.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reiterated this point, telling his 1.58 million YouTube subscribers that signing a striker is United's number one priority in the summer. Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen remain the top targets, though nothing concrete has developed on that front due to the uncertainty over the club's ownership and its effect on the summer's budget.
Midfielders and defenders
Further, the Italian insider stated that the Red Devils are also looking to potentially bolster their midfield, though any potential business will be contingent upon the funds that are left over after a striker is brought in. United want to keep on-loan star Marcel Sabitzer around, but with him also being courted by other Premier League sides, they could seek out other options.
Indeed, one of those options is Leicester star James Maddison, as revealed by the Telegraph. According to the report, the 26-year-old will leave the Foxes this summer regardless of whether they manage to stay up, with United, Tottenham and Newcastle interested.

Bringing in a centre-back is also a possibility, claims Romano. Ten Hag has not yet made a decision on the futures of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, but if they were to leave, United would approach Napoli star Kim Min-jae and Ajax's Jurrien Timber in the summer.
