Man Utd with €120m HIJACK of Madrid’s Bellingham transfer
Manchester United are trying to hijack Real Madrid’s move for Jude Bellingham, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Italian transfer website reports that United have already made a €120 million bid for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Dortmund value him at €150m, with United now preparing their next move on whether to raise their offer.
Madrid favourites to sign Bellingham
United have all of a sudden gone in strongly for a player who last week it was reported had virtually sealed a summer transfer to Real Madrid.
It was reported by first Marca and then Fabrizio Romano that negotiations are at an advanced stage between Bellingham and Madrid, with personal terms almost agreed.
A new meeting is said to have been scheduled to complete the transfer.
Marca reported that Real Madrid will pay €100-120m for the Dortmund midfielder.
Madrid had emerged as the favourites to sign Bellingham in recent weeks, according to multiple sources, moving ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and other interested parties.
Liverpool had been considered as favourites earlier on in the season for the Borussia Dortmund star due to their excellent relationship with the player and his family.
But Madrid moved ahead in the race and made him their number one midfield target for 2023.
Man Utd weren’t believed to have been very high up in the race to sign Bellingham.
That has now changed according to TuttoMercatoWeb, possibly partly due to United’s poor form which has demonstrated just how much work is still needed this summer.
What is certain is that Dortmund will sell their star man this summer, having decided against losing him in 2022 during the same window that they lost Erling Haaland to Man City for €60m.
