90min report that the Magpies can afford the Brazil international, who would be signed to play on the left wing at St. James' Park.

The North East club had previously held an interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo, but he wasn't seen as the right fit for the team.

It appears that Neymar is the more likely superstar to join Eddie Howe's side.

And it is thought that PSG would be prepared to sell the 31-year-old in the next transfer window.

Fans target Neymar in angry protests

PSG supporters are certainly not enamoured with Neymar, as a large group of fans gathered outside of his house on Tuesday and chanted “f*** off”.

Although this only adds fuel to the fire of the club’s desire to part with him, PSG have come out with a stern statement against actions that invade the privacy of their players.

“Paris Saint-Germain most strongly condemns the intolerable and insulting actions of a small group of individuals that took place on Wednesday,” a club statement read.

“Whatever the differences of opinion, nothing justifies such actions.

“The club gives its full support to its players, its staff and all those targeted by such shameful behaviour.”

PSG’s ultras, which come together under the banner CUP, have been protesting against the leadership of the club at all levels in recent days following a 3-1 loss to Lorient in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
